Beginnings & Blundering Idiots

My crew nearly dragged me down the trenches with them, good thing I let go of the rope. I may be strong for my stature, but I just couldn't support all of their weight---another reason I prefer to work alone. I am slow to show loyalties as this group is strange to me.

We set out for the torch with Scaffle by my side. I was surprised to meet the wild wolves who would have been talked down, but my companions riffled them up with their drawn weapons. Guess the wolves had it coing, they were out for us.

We camp tonight after a long trek at the mouth of the tomb. Creatures splash in the water surrounding us, Scaffle is aware of their movements, fur rises. I calm him to resist his instincts to wait up and fight. Dark surrounds us, calming me. I can hear the sounds of the surrounding wilderness and feel at home.  We must ignore the shadows in the water and just go to sleep. We will need our rest for tomorrow's encounters.
